MAP: Orientation

Orientation course:

The first class you take at MAP is our orientation course. This class isn't an intro to acting, but rather a complete grounding in the unique way we work at MAP. The aim of these classes is also to give new members an understanding of why the specific artistic practice we undertake here can be so healthy, powerful and valuable for us as actors.

MAP Orientation is for actors of all levels of experience, from veterans of the industry, to those just starting out in their careers.

what our students say

what our students say

  • NADINE WHITEMAN - ACTOR - TAKE NOTE, THE SWEARING JAR, TALL BOYZ, HANDMAIDS TALE

“MAP is such a welcoming inviting space for actors. The orientation is the first look at how MAP uses scenes like a workout. A safe space to stretch and grow your acting and artistic muscles. We don’t perform the scene we break the scene and use it to practice and see where our art takes us. Terribly valuable for the actor, as it encourages us to explore with no judgement but rather with cheers of delight.”

  • ROD WILSON - ACTOR - MURDOCH MYSTERIES, GOOD WITCH, GRAND ARMY, SUITS

“Orientation is specifically designed with the way Meredith and the other instructors "teach" at MAP. It's a fun, intense introduction to the way we work at MAP which will be unlike anything you've come across in the past. It will change the way you look at yourself and at acting.”

  • Meg Dion - Actor, Dancer

“MAP was recommended to me by another actor who started taking classes here and it has been life-changing for me as an artist. I felt like I was truly able to let my creative self flourish in this supportive environment. I have always felt a lot of fear to begin acting and at MAP I felt nothing but encouragement while also being challenged to go beyond what I thought was possible for me. I cannot wait to continue in the weekly on-going classes and I'm extremely grateful I have found this studio.”
