MAP is a proud supporter of AACE – The Association of Acting Coaches and Educators and has adapted their outlined code of conduct and has adopted its guidelines for respect-based teaching. Both students, teachers and employees at MAP are expected to abide by this code of conduct. 

MAP CODE OF CONDUCT

MAP believes that every student should expect the following:

  • A safe learning environment where all students and performers can thrive and where harassment is never tolerated.

  • To have access to an anti-harassment, discrimination and violence policy with procedures for conflict and resolution which is clearly communicated before or on the first day of classes and followed for the duration of the course.

  • For instructors to have ingrained in their course curriculum aspects of anti-harassment training and education.

  • The ability to set personal boundaries and engage in consent-based interactions.

  • Instructors that adhere to industry best practices when content includes physical contact or scenes of nudity, intimacy or violence.

  • Instructors do not develop sexual relationships with students outside of class.

  • Instructors are mindful of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and builds this into their teaching.

  • Access to resources for external counselling and support when needed.

  • Reported incidents will be addressed in a timely manner that ensures a fair process, and that they feel comfortable when reporting.

  • Students who have experienced incidents may have emotional, academic, or other difficulties.

Everyone working or training with MAP has a right to culturally safe workplaces free from abuse of power, bullying, discrimination (including, but not limited to, acts of ableism, ageism, racism, homophobia, transphobia or sexism), harassment or sexual harassment, reprisal or violence. We all need to feel safe place to practice and play.
